Rejection makes you feel like you’re never good enough. Like no matter what you do, people will leave. So you build walls. You avoid connection. Or you overwork, overperform, and over-please just to be accepted. The stronghold of rejection tells you your value is based on someone else’s opinion. But God’s voice says you are chosen. He delights in taking care of His people. He blesses so that you can be a blessing. But poverty becomes a stronghold when it convinces you that you are meant to stay small, that you don’t deserve better, or that asking for more is selfish.
It’s not just about money. It’s about mindset. It’s about breaking free from survival thinking and stepping into the abundance of a generous Father. That doesn’t always mean fancy cars or big houses. It means peace. It means provision. It means having enough to meet your needs and help others too. You were not created to live in constant struggle. God can break the spirit of lack and lift you into a life of purpose and provision.
12. The Stronghold of Rejection
Rejection is one of the deepest wounds a person can carry. And when it’s not healed, it becomes a spiritual stronghold that influences every part of your life. Maybe it started in childhood. A parent who left. A teacher who made you feel invisible. A group of friends who never included you. Or maybe it came later in life. A relationship that fell apart. A job you never got. A ministry you were excluded from.
Whatever the story, rejection makes you feel like you’re never good enough. It whispers lies into your mind that sound like truth. It says, “You’re not wanted.” “You’re always the outsider.” “You’ll never be chosen.” And so you start hiding your real self. Or you start performing, hoping someone will finally see your worth.
The problem is, no human can fill the void that rejection leaves. Only God can. He is the One who says, “You are accepted in the Beloved.” He’s the Father who never walks away. The Friend who sticks closer than a brother. The One who calls you by name and says, “You are Mine.”
When rejection becomes a stronghold, it keeps you from trusting others. It makes you sabotage relationships. It can even cause you to reject yourself. But God can heal every wound. He can give you the strength to love again. To hope again. To show up without fear. His love is not based on your performance. It’s not conditional. It’s constant. Rejection may have been part of your past, but it doesn’t have to define your future.
13. The Stronghold of Backwardness
This one is sneaky, and it shows up in patterns that are hard to explain. You take one step forward, and then two steps back. Just when it feels like things are about to turn around, something breaks down. A job falls through. A relationship ends. A door that was opening suddenly slams shut. And it keeps happening, again and again.
This isn’t just bad luck. It’s not just a rough season. When backwardness becomes a pattern, it can be a spiritual stronghold. It’s like something invisible is holding you back, keeping you stuck while others move forward. And over time, it wears on you. You start to doubt your own progress. You feel discouraged. You lose your motivation. And eventually, you stop trying altogether.
The stronghold of backwardness tells you that you’re cursed. That you’ll never catch up. That your time has passed. But those are lies from the pit of hell. You are not too late. You are not forgotten. You are not behind. God’s timing is not man’s timing, and what He started in you, He will finish.
Sometimes, backwardness comes from spiritual attacks. Other times, it’s from inner vows or generational patterns. Either way, it must be broken. You were not created to be stuck. You were made to move forward, to grow, to walk boldly in your calling.
God restores what was lost. He redeems wasted years. He makes up for time you thought was gone. The stronghold of backwardness can be torn down through prayer, through deliverance, and through bold steps of faith. You are not who you used to be, and you are not staying where you’ve been.
